This course includes initial ACS training and assessment for either: • CMA3 (Core Domestic Metering) + MET1 (Domestic Gas Meters) or • CMA1 (Core Domestic & Non-Domestic Metering) + MET1 (Domestic Gas Meters) It is ideal for engineers working in or entering the gas metering sector, providing the skills and certification required to safely install, exchange, and commission gas meters.

Course Objectives

By the end of this gas meter installer training course, candidates will be able to:

• Understand gas safety legislation and industry regulations

• Apply correct gas emergency procedures

• Demonstrate knowledge of combustion principles

• Identify ventilation requirements for domestic and commercial appliances

• Install gas pipework and fittings safely and compliantly

• Carry out installation, exchange, removal, and commissioning of gas meters (domesticand/or non-domestic)

• Perform tightness testing and purging procedures

• Check and set meter regulators accurately

• Identify unsafe situations and issue appropriate warning notices

• Understand emergency isolation controls and valve positioning

• Apply correct flueing standards

• Safely re-establish gas supply and relight appliances or plant

Course Method

This ACSinitial training course includes:

  • Structured practical training
  • Formal initial ACS assessments (theory and practical)

Successful candidates will achieve ACS certification in CMA1 or CMA3 and MET1, qualifying them for gas meter installation work.

Pre Course Requirements

This  course is suitable for

  • Engineers whose ACS metering qualifications expired more than 12 months ago
  • Individuals requiring initial ACS certification in gas metering
  •  

If your qualifications expired less than 12 months ago, you may be eligible for the  CMA1 or CMA3 re-assessment route instead.

Candidates  new to the industry may qualify via a Gas Meter Managed Learning Programme  (MLP), provided they:

  • Have relevant transferable skills
  • Are employed by a gas meter installation company
  • Can complete a work-based portfolio
