Our Governance

Our training centre Governors play an important part in helping to raise the standards at Universal Skills Centre. They act as a critical friend, involved in the monitoring and evaluating of the apprenticeship delivery and performance. The Governors are responsible for setting strategic direction and ensuring accountability.

Smart metering apprentice

The Governing Body represents a wide range of expertise and is comprised of 8 Governors. This includes; Apprenticeship Manager, Delivery and IQA Manager, General Manager and Finance and Planning Manager. In addition, the Governing Body also has employee representatives from its key stakeholders in Siemens Metering, Search Energy, OVO Energy and Morrison Data Services.

The Governors at Universal Skills meet regularly throughout the year to review the Apprenticeship programme; this includes what's gone well and what can improve. There are 3 Governing Body meetings during each year.

In addition there are sub-employer meetings for matters concerning Project Management, Staffing, Performance Management, Curriculum and Academic Standards, Finance and Pastoral Support. Governors also complete various training courses with safeguarding being a priority.

Governors can be contacted via the training centre with the General Manager being the chair of the Governing Body.
