Course Content

This regulated qualification is for learners that wish to demonstrate their skills and knowledge as a Qualified Supervisor for Competent Person Schemes in the UK. It is based primarily on BS 7671 (Requirements for Electrical Installations. IET Wiring Regulations) along with other relevant regulations. The qualification provides under pinning knowledge to comply with current legislation and the requirements.

Course Structure

  • Understand and Apply Health and Safety legislation, practices and procedures in electrical installations.
  • Understand and apply environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems associated with electrical installations.
  • Understand and apply the practices and procedures for overseeing and organising the work environment when installing electrical installations.
  • Electrotechnical Occupational Competence - Approval of Electrical Installations.
  • Understanding and applying the principles, practices and procedures for the planning, preparation and selection of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment.
  • Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrical installations.
  • Understand and apply the practices and procedures for the installation and connection of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment.
  • Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning, approving and certification of electrical installations.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal pre-requisites to this qualification, but it is highly recommended that candidates should have a minimum 2 years in the electrical installation industry and suitable knowledge of electrical theory, ideally be working within the electrical industry and have access to a qualified mentor in order to complete this qualification.
