This regulated qualification is for those wishing to achieve a nationally recognised qualification in the installation and maintenance of small scale grid tied Photovoltaic systems. This qualification is based upon the National Occupational Standards as published by industry and is recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme registration bodies as an acceptable qualification to join the scheme.

Over The Course Candidate's Will Cover The Following:

- Health and safety risks and safe systems

- Photovoltaic panels in context of renewable technologies

- Regulations/ standards relating to practical installation, testing and commissioning of solar photovoltaic systems

- D.C and A.C circuit installation layouts

- Solar PV fundamental components

- Design of a PV system

- Installing a PV system

- Testing, commissioning and client hand-over

- Wiring and maintenance

- Design of a PV system

Day One - Two

- Entry Paperwork

- Introduction to Solar PV

- Principles Components and Design

- Recap, Design and Installation Theory

- Commission Faults and Maintenance

Day Three

- Recap

- Theory Element of Practical Assessment

- Online Multiple Choice Exam

- Practical Assessments

Entry Requirements

This course is aimed at practicing electricians who hold a Level 3 qualification in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations and up to date with the latest 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. However, recognition of prior learning can be considered for those who do not hold the above certificates. Evidence of experience must be provided, and you may be required to do a skill scan to assess suitability.
