Course Content

The Y plan uses a mid-position valve to direct the primary flow through the heating, hot water, or both circuits. On the other hand, the S plan, another popular heating system, utilises at least two separate zone valves for both the heating and hot water functions.

Learners will also learn how to install and pair smart controls within customers app on HIVE, Nest and Tado systems.

By the end of the course participants will be able to wire up and fault find on central heating and hot water systems and install smart controls.

Course Structure

Day 1 :

Plan heating diagrams
Introduction to system controls and operation with three-way and zone value actuators (W plan for air source pumps)
S plan wiring installation
Practical wiring from diagrams and testing

Day 2:

Functional flow diagrams
Practical Installation Of Y Plan Systems
TADO, Hive & Nest conversion, installation and comms with the app
TADO, Hive & Nest retrofit continues with S & Y plans
Basic fault finding
