After the course

Once you have qualified with a level 2 diploma in Plumbing foundation, you will be deemed competent by employers in the building services industry. You will be able to install and maintain domestic systems under supervision. This diploma will allow progression to a level 3 plumbing foundation qualification.

Intro :

The Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Foundation is intended as a Substantial Vocational Qualification. It requires the completion of knowledge and practical assessments designed to provide individuals with the basic skills and understanding to allow a progression route to completion of the L2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating, Domestic Heating or L3 Plumbing Foundation qualification.

Aims :

The qualification is for someone who wants to work in the Building Services Engineering Industry and envisages a career as a Plumber or Plumbing & Heating Engineer. The qualification requires the learner to complete 10 units (all of which are mandatory) and include the assessment of both practical skills and knowledge. The topics covered are:

Syllabus :

  • Understand and carry out safe working practices in Building Services Engineering
  • Understand how to communicate with others within Building Services Engineering
  • Understand how to apply environmental protection measures within BSE
  • Understand and carry out site preparation, and pipework fabrication techniques for domestic plumbing and heating systems
  • Understand and apply domestic cold water system installation and maintenance techniques
  • Understand and apply domestic central heating system installation and maintenance techniques
  • Understand and apply domestic rainwater system installation and maintenance techniques
  • Understand and apply domestic above ground drainage system installation and maintenance techniques
  • Understand how to apply Scientific Principles within Mechanical Engineering Services
  • 1 Day Course in Water Supply Regulations

Certification :

BPEC 600/9432/1 plus Water Supply Regulations

Notes :

Units of this qualification are constituents of: • BPEC 600/5270/3 - Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating • BPEC 600/5271/5 - Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Heating and may provide evidence to prospective employers that the learner is well placed to complete these qualifications or an apprenticeship framework. You will also achieve a 1 day course certificate in Water Supply Regulations.
