Intro :

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require every employer to take account of a risk assessment (Regulation 6) and select work equipment (Regulation 7) for any task considering, conditions, distances, consequences, operator training etc. with regard to all persons under his control (not just employees). PUWER Reg 9 requires employers to provide refresher training as and when necessary.

Aims :

The course is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills required to safely operate industrial mobile elevating work platforms at work.

Syllabus :

  • Health & Safety at Work Act
  • Medical Considerations regarding fitness: Eyesight, Hearing, Judgement, etc
  • Daily inspection of equipment
  • Setting up and positioning equipment
  • Safety of operator: Clothing, Safety Harness, Cones, Signs
  • Practice with all controls on machine raising and lowering
  • Potential hazards, overhead and at ground level
  • Overhead cables, Lights and Heaters, Safe distances
  • Practical operating exercises
  • Emergency Procedures: Faults, Loss of hydraulics, Loss of electricity, Reporting faulty equipment
  • End of Course practical and theory assessment tests

Telescopic Boom (cherry picker); Novice course: maximum 3 people 2 days, Refresher course: maximum 3 people 1 day Scissor lift/mast climber; Novice course: maximum 3 people 2 days, Refresher course: maximum 3 people 1 day
