Intro :

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Section 2 requires that employers ensure, ‘safety and absence of risks to health in connection with the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances.’ PUWER Regulation 9 requires employers to provide refresher training as and when necessary.

Aims :

The course is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills required to safely operate industrial forklift trucks.

  • Operating practice
  • Inspection and maintenance
  • Health & Safety at Work Act (1974)
  • Bulk stack building/vehicle loading
  • Accident prevention
  • Principles of lifting
  • Road licensing of trucks
  • Hydraulics - controls and their operation
  • Practical and Theoretical test
  • RTITB standard operator test

Certification :

Universal Skills Group Certificate

Notes :

Novice Operator course, 3 to 5 days; Experienced Operator courses, 2.5 to 3 days, Operator Conversion courses, 2 to 2.5 days, Operator Refresher course, 4.5 to 7.5 hours, Actual duration depends on the number of delegates.
