Electric cars are becoming ever more popular and as this grows, so will the need to charge electric vehicles at home. This addition to our domestic installer course allows you to have a complete skillset in home electrical installation.
Hosting our domestic installer course is our recently refurbished Wakefield training centre. We have modern training facilities, friendly and knowledgable tutors and best of all, a purpose built street with real life training scenarios.

This course package is suitable for anyone (over the age of 18) who wants to become a Domestic Electrical Installer and has little or no electrical installation experience. It consists of 7 individual units.
The course allows candidates to understand the under-pinning knowledge principles and practical skills in order to carry out electrical work in a domestic setting. It achieves the required level in order to register with a competent installer scheme which satisfies the legal requirements under the building regulations.
Some in-house certificates and some City and Guilds certificates
Candidates can do the course as individual units (with the exception of the EV Charging course) or do them over a longer period of time to complete the course but they must be completed in order. See below for full module details.
Electrical Principles and Safety – Single Phase Systems
This is a 3 day course for persons with little or no previous electrical training. It covers essential electrical principles and practices and is based around single phase systems for domestic type work. Delegates require a practical, logical and numerate aptitude. A technical background would be beneficial. This course is a suitable base for those wishing to undertake further study including the 18th Ed. Wiring Regs. It is assessed by an in-house multiple-choice exam.
L3 Certificate in Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings (C&G 2393-10)
This 2 day course is for those that do electrical work in dwellings. It covers how electrical work can affect the building construction and the relevant legal implications of Building Control. This unit only covers England & Wales. Trainees require a copy of the latest version of the IET Electricians Guide to the Building Regulations. It is assessed by an open-book multiple-choice C&G online exam.
5 Day Domestic Installation Workshop
This 5 Day Practical Installation Electrical Course will enable you to install everything electrical that is commonly found within a domestic property, including the consumer unit, socket, lights, fans and cooker circuits and everything in between. It also includes the main dead electrical tests and associated documentation needed. Assessment is by an installation on the fifth day. It is designed for those with little or no electrical experience.
L3 Award in Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671 !8th Edition Wiring Regulations (C&G 2382-18)
This is a standard 5 day training course which is assessed by an open book online two hour multi-choice City & Guilds exam. It covers the technical requirements of electrical installation work. Course delegates require some prior electrical knowledge. Trainees require a copy of the latest version of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. Persons with limited previous experience should firstly take one of our Electrical Principles and Safety courses.
L2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing & Initial Verification (2392-10)
This 5 day course is suitable for those with limited experience of inspection and testing of electrical installations or those wishing to refresh or update their skills. Candidates should already possess some electrical knowledge. It covers all practical skills including both dead and live testing as well as relevant documentation and under-pinning knowledge skills for single phase systems. It is also suitable for those with limited experience of inspection and testing of electrical installations, such as those domestic installers new to the industry, or those working in allied trades. i.e., Gas Fitters. Assessment is by a practical exam as well as a closed book multiple-choice online exam. Trainees require a copy of the latest version of the IET On-Site Guide or Guidance Note 3 or BS7671.
L3 Award in the In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment and the Management Requirements for the Maintenance of Electrical Equipment (C&G 2377-22 and C&G 2377-32)
This 3 day course is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and practical experience required to test portable appliances and maintain records in accordance with the Code of Practice. Delegates require prior electrical knowledge and experience. Assessment is by a short practical exam as well as 2 open book multiple-choice C&G online exams. Trainees require a copy of the latest version of the IET Code of Practice (PAT).
L3 Award in Domestic Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation (C&G 2919-02)
This 2 day course covers the under-pinning practical skills and knowledge requirements including legal duties when installing and maintaining electric vehicle charging points in a domestic setting. Delegates require prior electrical knowledge and experience. Assessment is by a practical exam as well as an open book multiple-choice C&G online exam. Trainees require a copy of the latest version of the IET Code of Practice (EV Charging Installations).
