Course Information.

The Health & Safety Awareness Course is aimed at learners who are looking to gain the CSCS Green Labourer Card to get on a construction site. If you are new to the construction and civil engineering sector, this course will give you all the foundation health and safety knowledge you will need to work safely on site.

Course Content

The CITB Health & Safety Awareness Course will cover the following:

  • General responsibilities as a worker for your and others health & safety
  • High risk activities
  • Legal liabilities & requirements
  • Have an understanding of health & safety law
  • Identifying how each worker role fits into the control and management of the site
  • The obligation to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident
  • Risk assessments
  • PPE

To pass the health & safety awareness course you must be involved in the course discussion throughout and complete an individual and/or group presentation. You must also pass the final exam

What are the entry requirements?

To attend this course, you must be able to read, write and understand English. This is stated in CITB’s scheme rules. Anyone who is deemed unfit will be asked to leave the course.You are required to bring photographic in date ID and your national insurance number. We need to know it is you who is attending.If you are under the age of 18, prior to attending the course you must inform us, and we require your guardian to complete a parental consent. This must be sent back prior to starting the course.

How do I claim the government grant?

For the health & safety awareness course, companies who are CITB registered can claim £30 for each delegate who completes the course. For the grant to be claimed the company name and CITB levy number must be included on the delegates information form which is completed on the first day of the course.

Can I do the course remotely?

To attend Remote Delivery, you must have access to a computer or laptop that has a working microphone and camera along with access to the internet. Without this you will not be able to contribute or complete the final exam.

Do I need to purchase any extra course material?

The course price includes the book whether it is a hard copy for classroom courses or an electronic copy for remote courses.
