Course Entry Requirements

The online 18th edition course is suitable for qualified electricians who may not work regularly with IET wiring regulations. At a minimum candidates should:

  • Be over the age of 18 
  • Have an understanding of inspection and testing of electrical installations

Course Content

This online 18th edition course covers the following:

  • Guiding principles of IET wiring regulations
  • Run through of key areas within the 18th edition text book
  • How to navigate and reference material
  • Exam prepartation

Candidates will need to complete various training exercises through an online portal provided by City & Guilds.

Course Assessments

When you feel ready to do the exam you can choose one of the following options to complete your assessment: 

Option 1

Call us on 0333 323 2723 and arrange to do the exam at our Wakefield training centre.

Option 2

Undertake the exam from your own home (this will require 5 working days for City & Guilds to set up online).

Is this course 100% remote learning?

Yes, the 18th edition online course is designed to be undertaken remotely via an online portal. The exam can be undertaken online or within a Universal Skills training centre. Online exams take 5 working days to arrange as they require a representative of City & Guilds to invigilate

How long will it take to complete this course?

The course takes approximately 30 hours to complete from start to finish but is designed to be undertaken at your own pace.

Do I need to purchase any books for this course?

Delegates will need a physical copy of the IET 18th Edition On-Site Guide BS 7671:2018 Wiring Regulations.

The book is a requirement for the course content and exam. You're welcome to purchase your own copy or you can purchase one directly from us for £82 which'll then be delivered to your home address. 

What happens after I book?

You'll receive a booking confirmation followed by an email providing details of how you can log on to the online portal to begin completing the course. You can start the course as soon as you receive your login information. Please note bookings made over the weekend may need to wait until Monday to receive their details.
