Booking Terms of Service

YOU SHOULD READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY IN FULL BY MAKING YOUR BOOKING ONLINE YOU AGREE TO THESE TERMS

These terms and conditions apply to all bookings made directly with Universal Skills Group and will form the agreement made between the customer and Universal Skills Group.1.Making a Booking

1. Bookings

1.1 Bookings can be made online, over the phone or in person. You will receive your booking confirmation once a deposit, full or part payment has been received or payment terms have been agreed by a manager. The confirmation letter contains information regarding the course, start dates, payment details and venue, along with other important information you may need prior to the course.

1.2 Acceptance of a booking by Universal Skills Group does not guarantee enrolment on the selected course. In some cases, enrolment will only follow once an initial assessment has been undertaken by the attendee(s) See point 1.3

1.3 Some courses may require the attendee to undertake an initial assessment prior of the course starting. Initial assessments will be sent out prior to the course start date and must be completed by the individual attending the course with no assistance. By undertaking the assessments, you agree to these terms. The outcome of these assessments may determine whether the candidate is suitable for the course. If Universal Skills Group deems the course to be unsuitable for the individual Universal Skills Group will inform the customer accordingly and may suggest that the course is not suitable for the individual if acceptable levels have not been met.

1.4 By making a booking with Universal Skills Group you confirm that the candidate can understand spoken English and write and read proficiently in English, If you have any doubt as to whether the candidate meets these requirements you should discuss this with Universal Skills Group before placing the booking. Any learning difficulties need to be declared seven days before the commencement of the course so Universal Skills Group can apply for access arrangements. Learning difficulties have to be backed up by a medical statement.

1.5 Universal Skills Group reserves the right to cancel or amend bookings and will notify customers accordingly. Where a change or cancellation is made by Universal Skills Group the customer will be entitled to a refund. Universal Skills Group reserves to right to refuse or cancel a booking at it’s sole discretion.

1.6 Unless stated otherwise, courses and exam bookings do not include the required books. Unmarked books can be brought to the training centre or can be purchased from the centre and are non-refundable, unless faulty.

2. Course Payment

2.1 All course bookings require a deposit of 10% at time of booking or full balance payment, to secure a candidates’ place on the course. Deposit payments are transferable to one other course date and remain non-refundable.

2.2 All course fees are to be paid in full no later than 21 days before the course start date unless other payment terms have been agreed in writing.

2.3 Payments can be made by credit/debit card or BACS transfer, over the phone or in person.

3. Non-Payment of fees

3.1 Failure to pay course fees in full by the due date may result in the candidate being unable to sit the course and exam and any deposit already paid will be forfeited.

4. Cancellation

4.1 If you wish to cancel a booking the following terms will apply: *Cancellations received up to 10 working days of course commencement are non refundable. Please note that you are responsible for payment if you do not cancel and do not attend.*Cancellations received up to 21 working days before course commencement are refundable less 10% deposit which remains transferable for one course date change.* *Cancellations received less than 5 working days before course commencement are non-refundable. Please note that you are responsible for payment if you do not cancel and do not attend.*

4.2 If you wish to cancel an exam only booking, you will not be entitled to a refund as registration and scheduling fees apply from the time we schedule your exam booking.

5. Transfers

5.1 Transfers within 10 working days are subject to a £50 transfer fee.

5.2 Transfers/Cancellations due to COVID 19 are required to send proof of their own track and trace email, if it is someone in their bubble causing them to self-isolate we are to be provided with their track and trace which confirms date & time email is sent to individual in bubble. Failure to provide proof will incur the above charges

6. Exam Re-sits

‍6.1 Where possible and if required, exam resits may be taken within the course schedule. Please be aware that where time does not allow for this due to the continuous schedule of the course dates and times, then exam re-sits may need to be taken after the completion of the course and you will be invited back to the centre to re-sit any exams or assessments that are outstanding, please note that exam re-sits and re-assessments come at an additional cost unless otherwise stated at the time of booking. Any offer of a free- re-sit will not be available to anyone who does not attend all required sessions prior to the assessment.

6.2 A maximum of 3 attempts is permitted for any electrical exams. If a candidate has not passed after 3 attempts then a period of re-training is required before any more attempts can be taken.

7. Absences

‍7.1 Once a course has commenced, the candidate must attend all sessions necessary to complete the course. You will not be entitled to a refund or a free exam re-sit if all sessions are not attended.

7.2. If the reason a candidate is unable to attend is due to exceptional circumstances then Universal Skills Group may, at the manager’s discretion, offer a new date. Whether or not circumstances shall be deemed “exceptional” shall be at the sole discretion of the General Manager. You may be asked for supporting documents to prove the exceptional circumstances alleged.

8. Accommodation

8.1 Universal Skills Group cannot be held responsible for accommodation. Where we can offer information to local hotels and may from time to time be able to share discount opportunities, you remain responsible for your own booking and payment.

9. Disclaimer Regarding Advice Given

9.1 Universal Skills Group will endeavour to only give advice regarding career paths, abilities to join registration bodies, qualification advice or other career opportunities that is correct at the point of enquiry. This may be subject to change and is beyond the control of Universal Skills Group and cannot be held responsible for changes to other organisations’ joining requirements or qualification pre-requisites. No refunds will be issued in the event of changes mentioned above. Universal Skills Group take no responsibility for candidates joining accreditation schemes on completion of the training courses.

10.Work Experience Provider

10.1 Where a work experience placement is offered, Universal Skills Group take no responsibility for work schedules, timetables, dates, locations of the employer offering the work experience placement. This will be communicated between the student and the work experience provider. By accepting your place on the course you agree that Universal Skills Group will share your personal information to the work experience provider.

11. Data Protection

11.1 The Universal Skills Group Privacy notice explains what data we collect from you and how we use the data and includes your rights in respect of the privacy notice. The privacy notice can be accessed online or can be provided paper based on request.

11.2 Telephone calls may be recorded by Universal Skills Group for training and monitoring purposes.

12. Complaints

12.1 Any complaints should be notified to a member of the leadership team in writing to the centre address or by email. This will then be actioned by a member of the leadership team.
